HNT - Farewell Mister Bunny

I couldn't let this HNT go by without pausing to pay tribute to a little critter who was a big part of our lives for 11 years. Mister Bunny (yes, that was his name) died on Monday. The house is so different, so lonely without him.

So for HNT, I present two pictures of Mister Bunny and me. The first one is my favourite shot of the two of us, sitting in the living room and watching TV. Okay, I'm watching TV, he's got his eye on the camera. (I think this shot was 6 or 7 years ago)

The second shot is in the more classic HNT style -- I'm half naked on a lazy Saturday morning, laying on the floor in my boxers and petting Mister Bunny's nose. (Perhaps this is 3 or 4 years ago)

Scroll down to previous post for more on Mister Bunny. For further fun Mister Bunny tales, the story about how he came into our lives appears here.

  8. Actually, bunnies and guinea pigs usually get along fairly well together, and as pets, can be kept in the same cage.

It's really cool how you litter-trained him and gave him the run of the place. Pets can be so amazing in how they develop so much "personality" (yes I know he wasn't a person, even if he may not have... but "bunnyality" isn't a word, is it?), and it's wonderful that you took such good care of him that he could be part of your family for 10 years.

I'm sure losing him is really difficult for all of you... how can Alex possibly fight the evil Darth Tater without Mr. Bunny's wise advice? *sigh* Noq I guess we'll ALL miss him in a way. Thanks for introducing him to us.

Aw, I'm so sorry about Mister Bunny. We lost our dog recently, and I'm familiar with the emptiness you mention. How it can be that a household with two big adults, three kids, and five cats is empty, I don't know, but somehow, losing the one pet made the house disproportionately quiet. Thanks for sharing for HNT.

  21. Very nice tribute. May he rest in peace. We had "lil bun" yes, that was his name - I still miss him. A pet is a part of your family and a part of your heart.

  23. Oh Mark, I am sorry that Mister Bunny has passed. Our pets do become part of our family and we do grieve when they leave us.

In that top picture, you look a bit like James Taylor. Has anyone ever told you that before?
