Mahnahmuhnah!

I friend of mine from the west coast recently forwarded me a link to this video clip from The Muppet Show, which I haven't seen in years. I found it even funnier since every once in a while when I'm changing Alexander's diaper and I need to distract him, I'll hum this little tune to him.

Of course, I usually accompany the "Mahnahmuhnah!" with a drop-in close-up or tummy tickle, and he delights in the thrill of the fact that, like the monster in this clip, I sometimes take my time before surprising him with a "Mahnahmuhnah!"

Most of the custom mixed cd's in my car begin with this bad boy. I love it!

We have the Best of the Muppet Show DVD and this is by far the kids favourite! I do the "Do-do-bee-do-do" and they do the 'mahnahmunah' in that gruff voice...usually over dinner, and then break out laughing and spitting food everywhere.
Joey always makes me reenact the 'telephone' part at the end. To him, it is comic genius! (Nice to see you're keeping the spirit of the 70's alive!)
Hey, remember when Alice Cooper was the guest star? That was my FAVOURITE episode!!! You can find the clips on youtube...

Yes! Oh Yes! I first watched this in Malaysia where the word "mana" means... "where?"... bringing a whole existentialist meaning to the song. LOL! The Muppets still so Rock!

I actually enjoy the muppets as much as my son. This age is so wonderful isn't it? I cherish all the stages but this age...nearing 2 years old and communicating... It astounds me. And well, he does talk back now though. haha

I'll just sing Mahnahmuhnah to distract him from being a smartie pants! ;-)

Thanks for posting this--I needed a laugh today and that was just great. I loved the Muppets, too. They were on TV when my child was a teen and just too cool to let anyone know she cared ... but she always managed to be in the living room when the show was on.

Thanks for finding this little gem. Just as I was scrolling your blog my 4-year old daughter was waking up from her nap and came down the stairs, still not fully alert. I told her to sit on my lap and we watched it together. She made me play it twice. Good job for something that doesn't have a single Disney Princess in it!
