Life has been hectic and stressful these past couple of months. One of the biggest stresses was the confirmation we received yesterday from the doctors and nurses at the hospital that it's very likely my Mother-in-law will not recover enough to return home. It's devastating to think about that, to consider what this means.
So this morning, in the midst of getting ready for work, I took some time out of my morning routine to just sit there and watch my son while he slept. I can't properly describe the sense of peace and tranquility and the overwhelming love that I felt while watching him peacefully doze. For several minutes, everything was all right with the world again. And when he opened his eyes and smiled at me, my heart just about burst wide open.

I agree, there is something so peaceful about watching a loved one sleep, it's hard to describe. What a beatiful moment you've described.
oh mark, i'm so sorry about your MIL. so sorry for you and francine and alexander.
i think any of us who are parents understand that tranquility our children give us too.
much peace and many sustaining moments....
someone who is childless (or childfree however they want to put it) can smile down at a sleeping child - but only a Momma or a Dadda can look down and feel that child's soul...
so sorry about your MIL (((prayers for your family)))
So sorry to hear about your mother-in-law Mark. I know how hard it can be to lose a parent.
Wow. You're a great dad.
Remember to take a minute or two during the heartbreak to be thanful for having what time you did have. My wife's mother never survived long enough to see our wedding. I know she would have loved to see her grandkids and that they would have loved her to bits, but we never got the opportunity.
You guys are in my prayers for this dark run and I know the love you all have for each other will help you through it all. Go hug your Mother in Law and your family as often as you can because when you put it off until tomorrow you may find that they run out sooner than you think.
